JEMA Foundation launches program with City of Visalia support, bringing culture and tradition to local youth
Visalia, CA – September 2025 – The JEMA Foundation, in partnership with the City of Visalia, is thrilled to announce the launch of its Youth Folklórico Dance Program, providing local children the opportunity to celebrate culture, build confidence, and express creativity through the beauty of traditional Mexican dance.
Classes are FREE for Visalia residents and will take place at the Visalia Senior Center (310 N. Locust St., Visalia, CA). Registration begins with a special workshop on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 9:00 AM.
The program is open to youth in grades K–5 (Mondays at 4:45 PM) and 6–12 (Mondays at 6:00 PM). Classes will run weekly from September 22 through October 27, 2025. To conclude the season, students will showcase their skills in a festive Program Recital on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Anthony Community Center.
“This program is about more than dance—it’s about celebrating heritage, building community, and giving our children a positive and enriching experience,” said Micaela Macareno, JEMA Foundation representative. “We want every child to have the chance to explore the beauty of folklórico and to feel proud of the culture it represents.”
The folklórico program is made possible through Youth Grant Funding from the City of Visalia and reflects the city’s commitment to supporting cultural enrichment and youth development.
Parents interested in enrolling their children are encouraged to register early, as space is limited.
